What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is a form of hypnotherapy, which is a form of psychotherapy. As a result, hypnosis is sometimes used during counseling to relax a patient or client. In this place the individual is guided into a hypnotic state or “trance” by the trained professional so the client can openly and safely explore painful, traumatic, and repressed memories that tend to be hidden from the conscious mind. This change in consciousness can help some patients or clients view real-life situations, feelings, and events in a different light. While under hypnosis an individual becomes more open to the hypnotherapist’s suggestions and guidance. As a result, he/she is able to make positive changes in his/her life. Hypnotherapy is a safe modality of treatment and studies have shown positive changes in clients as a result.

Who can be helped with hypnotherapy and what are the benefits?

Hypnotherapy is helpful for a variety of issues including but not limited to anxiety, phobias, depression, anxiety, PTSD, weight loss issues, smoking cessation, stress, grief/loss, and unresolved traumas. Benefits can include experiencing some relief from any of the above stated issues, more satisfying sleep and greater understanding and awareness of oneself.
